This chair is was completely re-upholsterd using antique techniques.

All natural materials and no foam was used to built this chair.

I spent hours making this chair, and so I noticed imperfections.

There were marks on the wood, one stain even looked like a smiley face!

Nobody is Perfect, the beautiful imperfections made me fall in love with this chair !

The backrest is made out of memory foam, and the seat is covered with suede.

I received this project as a family affair. This armchair which is an FDB Danish design chair, belonged to my husbands grandmother, and I wanted to incorporate the family connection inside. I pictured the grandmother sitting and knitting and enjoying the comfort. I made a pattern of the knitting in the foot stool and some knitted arms for the wooden armrests. 

Using both leather and the suede, I incorporated a zigzag stitch to connect the two. The foot stool is made from suede, and the foam that builds the shape is scraps from leftover projects.  This has a modern twist to the classic design with the thought of sustainability.

White room installation

We produced five products and placed them in a closed white environment. The products include a few pieces of furniture and some lighting fixtures. All the products like the room are to be interpreted by the individual. They give you the freedom to personalize one’s personal choice. For instance the item called bookcase, can be a shelf, yet it is open to what things you place in it, and holds pockets so you can decide whether you want to see the items or not.

The lights are made out of felt and can be stuck along the walls.

The mattress can become a seat or a daybed to rest.

The installation lets people in, with the freedom of doing what they will like in the open white space, the individual leaves once they feel the walls are closing in and all this freedom becomes overwhelming and more like a jail !
